The reply we received from the DHSC regarding the Rights for Residents petition was completely out of step with what’s actually happening on the ground. In response the Co founders of the Rights for Residents Campaign, Jenny Morrison and Diane Mayhew wrote back with a detailed account, highlighting their failure to grasp the urgency and severity of the issue. The fact is that people continue to die alone and isolated while the Government refuse to listen or act.
We demanded to see the evidence that all care home residents are being enabled to have essential visits- in line with their own guidance. Many care homes continue to flout or completely ignore this guidance without any consequences to them.
