On 14/04/2021 Jenny Morrison, Co founder of rights for Residents, gave evidence to the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights along with Professor Martin Green CEO of Care England and Zac Taylor Director of Quality & Practice for Mencap.
The session covered the impact that visiting restrictions have had, and continue to have on residents and relatives, including evidence of Care Providers refusing to implement Government Guidance.
There was also an update on the Emergency Legislation proposed by Harriet Harman and the Committee members – that would enshrine the rights of Essential visitors in law.
Kate Meacock – a Rights for Residents member commented ” It’s a long one so you may want to cancel your Netflix subscription! but it is well worth listening to. I can honestly say that I am so so proud of Jenny who spoke so eloquently throughout – it’s not easy to do but she stayed calm and got our points across perfectly”
