5th November 2021 The Human Rights Committee demands urgent action from the Care Minister and the CQC

Nov 5, 2021 | News

The Chair of the parliamentary Committee on Human Rights has written to Gillian Keegan, Minister for Care and the Peter Wyman, Head of the CQC calling for urgent action.

In response to new submissions from Rights for Residents and others, Harriett Harman MP, has called on the Government and the Care Quality Commission to take swift action to protect the human rights of residents and patients in care settings and end needless blocks on family visits:

“Family visits are not optional, they are absolutely essential for the quality of life of people in care homes. Whilst care home staff continue to do an incredible job keeping residents safe during the pandemic, for too many families and their loved ones these restrictions are a deeply painful breach of their right to family life.”
